It’s Write It Wednesday again!!
Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!
Growing up I have always loved bugs! I have a butterfly net I got when I was 4 or 5 years old and would catch everything from butterflies to wasps to bumble bees to dragonflies. I just love them and find them fascinating just like with dolphins and marine mammals.
While my mom was working on her Masters in Education degree, during the summer breaks of my middle school years, I went to a Science Day Camp. I loved it! We went out in the field at the college campus catching anything and everything we could possibly catch.
We also went out to the Nature Study Center, where, not knowing then, I ended up working at in 2013, catching what we could next to the big body of water. Within the classroom on campus, we played with the small animals we had such as hamsters, guinea pigs, and a couple of bird. We also dissected frogs. It was a BLAST!!
One year, 2nd or 3rd, my science partner in crime and I took the organs out of a female frog and put them in a male frog. ? I don’t remember why we did that but for some reason I remember doing so. We would take an eye dropper put it in the mouth of the frog and make its lungs ‘breathe.’ One of the coolest things ever!
Butterflies and Dragonflies
Again, one year, I think it was the first year, while out in the field of the college campus, the teacher/sponsor of the class was in total shock of me. Why you ask? I had managed to catch the BIGGEST dragonfly she had EVER since!! I was so proud of myself!
Once back in the classroom, I carefully pinned the dragonfly to my bug board so I could preserve it and take it with me. Actually, come to think of it up until moving out the first time of my parents house, I still had it and it was in perfect shape. I think after I moved out my mom took the liberty among herself to throw it out. Oh well guess I can’t save everything huh??
At that time and still these days, I loved butterflies. It just fascinates me how a single caterpillar can go from one to another. Every spring I look for them and watch them as they crawl all of the place.
When my mom as a 5th grade teacher, she had a butterfly house hanging in her classroom. Everyday I would watch as the caterpillars went about their way as they made their cocoons and turned into beautiful butterflies. I loved it!
So above is my “Write It Wednesday” picture. I used Tombow Dual Brush Pens to write ‘Butterflies’ and ‘Dragonflies,’ then used Sharpie Pens to make the polka dots. For the butterflies and dragonflies as the background, I used again, the Tombow Dual Brush Pens for the wings and body. For the antennas, I used the Tombow Fudenosuke Twin Tip.
Hope you enjoyed!
