Happy Spring

Happy Write It Wednesday!!

Well, we are into the third day of Spring and it certainly does feel like it outside here in north Louisiana. Of course, it also apparently got up to 90 degrees Monday. Anyways, for today’s “Write It Wednesday” I have created a mosaic type picture with my Ecoline Watercolors and Molotow Masking Liquid Marker. Let’s get started with “Happy Spring….”

Things Used:

  • Canson Watercolor Paper
  • Ecoline Watercolors
  • Black & Decker Laser
  • Thick & Thin Water Brushes
  • Molotow Masking Liquid Marker
  • Photoshop Elements 13

Step #1:

Happy Spring -- Visit CraftyJBird.com for more info...Using my Molotow Masking Liquid Marker, I hand-drew some tulips. Personally, when I think of Spring, I think of tulips. If you ever make it to Istanbul, Turkey make sure you visit the Emirgan Park to see all their designs they have created with their tulips. While we were over there for my sisters and brother in laws ‘2nd’ wedding, we got the chance to visit. Of course, the park is huge so we didn’t get to see everything and it’s super hilly but totally worth it. Click here for a quick hyperlapse video.

Step #2:

The thin waterbrush was too thin when I attempted with it for the look I wanted. (Please excuse the funky ‘g’ – it just didn’t want to work today). Here’s a quick hyperlapse video of me painting “Happy Spring”.

Step #3:

Once finished with my “Happy Spring” painting, I waited a few minutes to allow everything to dry. After I thought it was finally at least mostly dry, I used my yellow, blue and green watercolors to paint my tulips using my thin waterbrush.

Step #4:

Finally, with my tulips dry, I was ready to removing the Molotow masking liquid. As you can see from the video, not all my the masking came off. Fortunately, when that happens, I can easily open it in my Photoshop Elements to ‘erase’ the rest for a clean look.

There you go! Happy Spring! Not only 89 days left til the official day of Summer, which also means only 88 days left until my birthday and a year since starting my Crafty JBird blog. Hope y’all have enjoyed! Have a great day!
