Hearts of Luck Clover Bag

Happy Happy Make It Monday!

Hope everyone had a great productive or relaxing weekend! Did y’all enjoy losing the hour as much as I did? Despite setting my alarm to go off twice plus my cat, I still didn’t manage to get up at the time I wanted to yesterday morning. Fortunately for me, except for when I have had surgeries, I have never slept past 8 am. Other than the time changing issue, I was either studying, walking on the treadmill, or sleeping for the most part. Anyways, remember the 4-leaf clover I hand drew a couple weeks ago? Well, I have another project I made with it and I think it’s super cute. Shh…I plan on giving it to one of my cousins. She’s like me with my dolphins, loves clovers. Let’s get started with “Hearts of Luck Clover Bag…”

Hearts of Luck Clover Bag -- Visit CraftyJBird.com for more info...To start, I imported my picture of my hand-drawn/water colored 4-leaf clover into my Cricut Design Space account. Then I imported my picture of my “hearts of Luck” water colored calligraphy.

Cricut Design Space Steps:

Step #1:

Once my pictures were imported to the Cricut Design Space, I then created a new project and added the two pictures to my project. I’ve gotten in the habit of changing the color for each image or letters of the cardstock or other cutting material color.

Step #2:

With both images ready, I brought my “hearts of Luck” saying to the front. Then I layered it on top of my 4-leaf clover. Instead of centering my saying on my clover, I decided to placed the word “of” on the origin of my clover.

Step #3:

Next, I selected both my images to get ready for the next step.

Step #4:

Here, I used the ‘slicing’ tool and sliced my clover. This caused my saying “hearts of Luck” to be cut out within my clover.

Step #5:

Since my “hearts of Luck” saying essentially got sliced to pieces, I added another image of it to my project. I then placed my saying on top of my clover to match-up where it was originally cut out.

Step #6:

With both images selected again, I resized them to fit my 18 by 16 bag.

Step #7:

With my two images ready to be cut, I clicked the ‘Go’ button to send it to be cut. Once on the ‘mats,’ I made sure I checked the ‘mirror image’ box for each image. After I double checked everything to be good to go, I was ready for my Cricut Explore to cut.

So, for my green vinyl, I was going to use my Cricut brand I purchased off Amazon just last week. Unfortunately, I managed to have some of my duck tape folded along one of the sides causing it to get stuck in my machine. This then caused my machine to stop working. ? Luckily, I also ordered some other green vinyl by Kate’s Craft Store off Amazon so I ended up using it.

In the future, if your mat doesn’t seem to be sticky enough and you decide to use duck tape to secure whatever you are cutting out, make sure the duck tape isn’t folded on the side. Just saying.

Finally, once both images finished cutting, I carefully and patiently removed the excess vinyl. Keep in mind when working with images like this that have a lot of detail takes a long time or at least it feels like it.
