Lemon Flavored Sugar Cookies

It’s Oily Thursday!!

A few weeks ago I told you two ways of how you could use Young Living’s Lemon Vitality Essential Oil. First, by adding a few drops to your glass of water. Secondly, by adding a some drops to your plain yogurt. You can see this particular post here. This week I want to tell you how you can make Lemon Flavored Sugar Cookies.

The process is quite simple and only takes as long as it takes to make a batch of sugar cookies. All you need is a package of Sugar Cookie mix and the other ingredients it tells you, you need.

So here we go…

Step #1:

If you don’t have them already, go to the store and purchase the ingredients. I like to use “Betty Crockers Sugar Cookie Mix” and usually get my packages from Target since I live across the street from them. Next according to “Betty Crockers Sugar Cookie Mix,” you will need one egg and one stick of butter, margarine, or spread.

If you are vegan or for some other reason don’t want to use eggs or butter, you have a lot of substitute options. A couple options for eggs include: one tablespoon of Chia Seeds mixed with three tablespoons of water or one tablespoon of flax seeds with three tablespoons of water. A few options for butter include: applesauce, a smashed up banana, or pumpkin puree. Last year when I went to visit my best friend she used pumpkin puree in a cake and you would have never known it tasted so good!

Step #2:

Go by the directions of the package you picked to use. Once you have everything mixed together well, add about 8-10 drops of Young Living’s Lemon Vitality Essential Oil. If you think this may be too strong, you can always split the cookie dough up into two bowls and experiment on how many drops half a batch would take.

For example, if you split the dough up, you can add 4-5 drops into one bowl and then add 2-3 drops in the other bowl. Once the cookies are finished baking, you can see which batch you like best; and then next time you make them double the amount of drops you used the first time. Just be sure to write down how much you used so you will remember.

Step #3:

Add cookie drops to cookie sheet and put in the oven as directions specify. For the “Betty Crocker Sugar Cookies,” it says to heat to 375*F and bake for 7-9 minutes; allowing them to cool for about 1 minute after removing from oven.

Step #4:

Enjoy!

**As with anything, over the counter medicines and/or prescription, a specific essential oil may work great for me but not so much for you. These are recommendations, as it is a trial and error type process to find what works best for you. Any oils used, tropically, through a diffuser, orally which includes capsules, drinking, or mixed in food, I can and only will recommend Young Living Essential Oils.**
