Managing After Hip Scope Surgery

Happy Oily Thursday!

I’ve mentioned my hip scope surgery I had last year a few times in my other posts. For this post, I wanted to share what essential oils I used once I got home. My surgery was to repair a torn ligament but once the doctor got the micro camera in, he also found a bone spur.

Since it was just a day surgery where I went straight home afterwards, I was home in my own bed by noon. On the day before my surgery I made up several different things with my essential oils for after my surgery.Managing Hip Scope Surgery

Good Nights Sleep

IMG_7415To get a good nights rest, I diffused Lavender, Lemon, and Thieves. Lavender is great for various things but one its best known for is sleeping. Like I mentioned in last weeks post, I have been using Lavender for a good 10 years, but I also use it in my Seasonal Issues roller, capsule, or for diffusing. Lemon, is another one I use in my Seasonal Issues mix but its also great for sleeping.

Thieves, has several different oils already mixed together including Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiate, and Rosemary. I use Thieves because its good for killing germs and purifying the room. This sleep mix wasn’t used just for after my surgery, I use it every night. Along with diffusing my sleep mix, I also have a roller I use every night where I use it on both my feet and wrists.

After a few days of taking the prescription medications the doctor gave me, I started using my oils since it had been almost a year since I had taken any prescription or an over the counter medication. I substituted the sleep medicine with what I just talked about above and substituted the pain medicine for what I am about to explain below.

Capsules

IMG_1417-s(1)First, I made up some capsules with Frankincense, Idaho Balsam Fir, and Copabia Essential Oils of 5 drops each. I made enough to take one in the morning and one at night before bed for 2 weeks, and then I made some more as the weeks went on and as needed.

Lemongrass and Panaway Roller

IMG_7252Next, I made up a roller with Lemongrass and PanAway diluting it with Young Living’s V-6 Carrier Oil. I use Lemongrass for any swelling I get, whether it was for after my hip scope surgery or when I’m on a plane for 11-12 hours straight flying to Istanbul, Turkey to see my sister and brother-in-law. I use PanAway when I get a charlie horse (leg cramp) or have anything else that hurts such as in this case my hip area from the surgery.

Other essential oils I use, which are rollers and pre-made mixers include Stress Away, Deep Relief, and Breathe Again.

Stress Away Roller

FullSizeRender 3Stress Away roller has Copabia, Lime, Cedarwood, Ocotea, Lavender, and Vanilla (you can’t actually buy a vanilla essential oil due to it is actually an absolute or essence). I use Stress Relief for when I have a slight headache, worried about something, or studying for a test.

Right now I actually have it on as I am waiting to hear from my sister who just flew back to Istanbul and I am worried because of the tragedy that just happened there at the Istanbul Airport 2 days ago when she was suppose to fly back.

Deep Relief Roller

Deep Relief roller has Clove, Vetiver, Helichrysum, Peppermint,FullSizeRender Idaho Balsam Fir, Palo Santo, Wintergreen, Lemon, and Copaiba in it. The Deep Relief roller is great to have especially when you don’t have much space such as a small purse you are going to take with you out or if you have a sudden charlie horse (leg cramp) while driving and need to put something on it to stop the pain (yes I have had that happen and will tell about it in another post).

It’s also great for when you don’t have any rollers to make the PanAway one, don’t have PanAway, or if you just don’t have time to make a new roller. Though I try my best to make sure my rollers are at least half full especially when I’m about to go out of town and can’t take everything with me even though I really want to. 😛

Breathe Again Roller

FullSizeRender 2Breathe Again roller has Eucalyptus staigeriana, Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus radiata, and Eucalyptus blue, which is Young Living’s original Ecuador single made and distilled there. The roller also contains Lauruas Nobilis, Peppermint, Myrtle, Copaiba, and Blue Cypress in it.

The Breathe Again roller is, like the Deep Relief, great for when you just want up in the middle of the night due to a stuffy nose or cough where you can just swipe it the recommended places. When I have a stuffy nose, I like to swipe the roller right down on each side of my nose. Usually within a few minutes or even seconds my nose is unstuffed.

So there you go. The Young Living Essential Oils I used after my hip scope surgery and some just a an everyday oil.

Thanks for visiting. Hope to see you back here again. Please be sure to check out my other posts for each day of the week if you have not done so yet. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me and I will try to answer as quickly as possible.

**As with anything, over the counter medicines and/or prescription, a specific essential oil may work great for me but not so much for you. These are recommendations, as it is a trial and error type process to find what works best for you.**

Have a great day!!
