Sea Glass Beach

Hello Make It Monday and my fellow Crafters!

It’s a new week, new day, and its also dreaded Monday once again.  Well, I hope this brightens up your day as I take you step by step to make a fun but easy project.  Back in 2010, when I knew I was moving to the beach to attend school for my Marine Science degree, I made this and it brighten up my apartment when I finally moved.

IMG_1470-sSupplies You’ll Need:

  • Hot Glue Gun or Super Glue
  • Hot Glue Gun Sticks
  • Sea Glass Pieces (4-5 bags)
  • Wooden Letters to Spell Out B-E-A-C-H
  • Paper Towels

I purchased everything from Michael’s Craft Store.  The Sea Glass pieces were about $3 per bag and the Wooden Letters about $4 per letter.  I already had a hot glue gun but those run between $5 and $30 depending on what type you get (meaning cordless or not), and be sure to have plenty of glue sticks as I purchased a new fresh pack of 18 and went through a good bit of them.  As I said before, this is a very simple project.

Step #1:

Layout either one letter at a time or all at once.  Take the pieces of sea glass and organized them on each letter to see how they fill them in like the picture above.

Step #2:

IMG_1502-sOnce each letter has the sea glass arranged the way you like it, using the paper towels under each one, start hot gluing or super gluing each piece of sea glass onto the letter.  Make sure to move quickly has you put the glue on the sea glass and go to place the sea glass in position as both will dry quickly.  (Side note: I prefer hot glue since if you get to a position where a piece doesn’t fit just right anymore you can remove it without any harm to the letter or sea glass)

Step #3:

Once everything is in place, I carefully lifted each one up and turn it upside down to check for any loose pieces.  If there are any (and yes I did have a few), re-glue and continue.  And finished!

Here is what the final project will look like, minus the starfish 😛 .  Hope you enjoyed!
