All About JBird
This is ME… A few years back…

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bird aka JBird!  I have been scrapbooking and creating things since 1995. For my 14th birthday I had a scrapbooking party. I attended the Great American Scrapbook Convention in Arlington, Texas with my mother, favorite aunt, and my mom’s best friend for over 10 years. Twice a year we go to standing retreats put on by our Creative Memories Consultant, at least once a year we attend another retreat in East Texas. For 6 years I was a Close To My Heart Consultant. The list goes on and on about my scrapbooking/crafty years and they just continue. These are reasons why I said, “why not start a blog and show off what I have and can do?”

Now, don’t get me wrong, scrapbooking is not my whole life, I just love it a lot. I have two bachelor degrees, one in Psychology, the other in Marine Science. Both towards my overall dream of wanting to work with marine mammals and teaching others about the facinating animals.

My father owns and runs our family business, manufacturing and distributing fitness equipment. I’m a big fan of fitness thanks to him but have no desire to run the business. My mother retired from being a Special Education Teacher/Instructional Specialists after her stroke in 2004. Though take it from my experience, don’t believe everything the doctors say. She is our mircle of going from giving just hours to live and not being able to do anything and everything if she survived to being a world traveler, scrapbooker, and the best thing – a mom.

A month exactly after graduating from Southern Miss and moving home (again) I started work at a Nature Study Center located in a local park here at home. I loved it!! We had a variety of fish from the lake, turtles, an albino crawfish, albino catfish, and a couple of baby alligators. Within the same park is a small zoo and at the time, rehabilitation for wildlife animals. Needless to say, I loved it there too.

After working at the park for almost a year, the zoo had cut backs so after some convincing, I moved to North Dallas to live with my aunt and uncle while working for my cousins. Unfortunately, as much as I love it there, our family business tragically caught fire, destroying everything in our warehouse plus some. I ended up having to move home so I could help go through what could be salvage and making lists of things that needed to be replaced. Despite all that, he was able to keep sales going and keep the business up float. At this point I came to the conclusion with I was were I was suppose to be for this unfortunate event.

After things settled down from what needed and could be replaced from the fire, I randomly got a call from one of the ladies I worked with at the zoo. They were looking for someone who was hard-working to hire and I was the one they picked. I started working in October 2015 and absolutely loved it more than anything. Long story short (and to save some for later), I just put my resignation in on June 3rd, 2016. So, without further ado, I decided to do my second love of creating and teaching others.

I truly hope you learn a lot from my experiences of life, scrapbooking, calligraphy, oils, fitness, and much much more. Despite what those who know me think, it has taken me a long time to get where I am because of life changing events I have personally gone through.

Through all in all, and like I always say — “EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON,” I certainly would not be where I am today.

ENJOY!
